CITOI (Christians in the Oil Industry) is an informal network of Christian believers based primarily in (but not limited to) Aberdeen, UK, who promote workplace fellowship and witness across the wider UK Oil & Gas Industry and who support, encourage and equip the people who work there.
CITOI exists to connect Christians in the local and global oil & gas industry, to support Christian groups that meet in the workplaces, and to encourage the establishment of new groups and through those groups establish new connections with interested individuals.

Our Core Values
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11
“I urge then, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority” ~ 1 Tim 2:1-2
“…to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” ~ Ephesians 4:12
“Go and make disciples of all nations” ~ Matthew 28:19
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” ~ Proverbs 27:17
In 2003 there were only 2 or 3 known oil & gas companies in Aberdeen with an established office based prayer/fellowship group. The co-ordinators of those groups met with the idea to unite Christians in the oil & gas industry for mutual encouragement, networking and sharing. In September 2003, a meeting was held with Angus Smith, the oil industry chaplain at that time. After the meeting, some of the group co-ordinators continued to meet and formed a network called ‘Christians in the Oil Industry’. CITOI now has contact with many more oil & gas office based groups, both local to Aberdeen and further afield in the UK and overseas that meet regularly.
CITOI Core Group
A group of approx. 6 local co-ordinators, believers with keen interest in workplace ministry, continue to meet regularly to discuss CITOI activities. These activities consist of organising combined oil & gas events with special speakers, mostly in the form of quarterly prayer breakfast meetings, planning opportunities to share with others about how existing groups have formed, and discussing new ways to increase networking as well as promote the existence and work of CITOI to a wider audience by various means such as website presence, connections via local churches etc.
